Rajnikanth's recent interview to a TV Channel regarding his speech

related to Hongenekkal issue has created ripples among the film

industry and his fans. Some of his fans in Kovai teared his banner

cut-outs and posters of Kuselan. Sathyaraj, T.Rajendar, Sarath kumar

expressed their condemns for his interview. But directors like

Bharathiraja, Seeman, Ameer, P.Vasu and producers like G.Sekharan,

KRG supporting Rajnikanth for his stand. Bharathiraja said that

nobody has the right to criticize rajni.

Aayirathil Oruvan resume shooting :
Director Selvaraghavan's Aayirathil Oruvan is under production for a

long time. After the settlement between the director and the

producer regarding the production cost, the film shooting going to

resume from Wednesday. Tamil film producers council intervened in

the matter and made a compromise between them. Paruthiveeran fame

Karthi playing the hero role and R.Parthiban playing as a Villain

for the first time. Reema Sen, Andrea playing the lead roles.

Kuselan in Karnataka with 10 prints :
Rajnikanth's Kuselan got the green signal from the Karnataka Film

Chamber of Commerce to release in Karnataka but with some

restrictions. KFCC allowed the distributor to release only in

bangalore with 10 prints. Kannada organizations like Karnataka

Rashtreya Vedika opposing the release of Kuselan in the state

because of Rajnikanth's speech in Hogenekkal issue. But the KFCC

President Jayamala rejected their pleas and allowed the producer to

release the movie. Pyramid Saimira got the all India distribution

rights, but in K'taka Niranjan got the rights at a cost of Rs 2

Crores. Rajni fans in Bangalore started their celebration.

Don't call me Ilaya Superstar : Dhanush
Dhanush urged his fans not to call him "Ilaya Superstar" ( Junior

Superstar ). He says there is only one Superstar in film industry

and it's Rajnikanth. Simbu, the rival of Dhanush already using

"Little Superstar" title before his name since he was a child

artiste. Thanush inaugurated a blood donation camp with his fans. He

is now busy in Padkithavan, Tamanna playing the love interest.

Padikadavan would release this September.

Nayanthara, the kerala beauty who is dominating south indian film

industry filed a police complaint regarding the recent Simbu -

Nayanthara MMS clip. She alleged that it's a fake one by her rivals

who is in jealous because of his status.

Amoha alias Nisha Kothari replaced actress Malavika in "Karthigai"

film. Malavika had alleged harassment by the producer Anjaneyulu.

Recently Nisha danced in the filmfare awards function in chennai.

Padikadhavan is the new film by actor Dhanush. Suraj of Maruthamalai

fame is directing the movie. Tamanna is the heroine. Suman playing

the villain role. After some mis-understanding between Vadivelu and

the director, now Vivek has been roped into the movie to replace

vadivelu.

Aegan would release this September :
As per the latest news in the Tinsel town, Ajith's Aegan film would

release this September. Raju sundaram debut as director through

Aegan.

kumar's daughter Varalakshmi entering film world. She would do the

lead role with Simbhu in Poda Podee.

A.R.Rahman released the songs of forthcoming film "Saroja" directed

by Venkat Prabhu in Chennai Trade Centre ( Nandambakkam ) Yuvan

composed the music.

Gobichettipalayam area. Padmapriya is the heroine. Cheran's Raman

now. This 'Jeans' hero is going to do a dual role in Ponnar Shankar.

Thiyagarajan going to produce and direct the film, as per sources he

'Ponnar Shankar' story.

Kushboo, Vijayakanth and others cast their votes. Police force with

JC and AC deputed in the election premise to diffuse the tension

between the groups and observers nominated by the court watched the

election process.

Kuselan audio released today. K.Balachander, Bharathiraja,

A.R.Rahman, Arjun, Jagapathi babu, Mani Sharma and other film

personalities attended the function. Music director G.V.Prakash

kumar thanked KB, Rajni and P.Vasu for giving the opportunity to

compose the music for the film, and thanked his Uncle & Guru

A.R.Rahman for attending the function.

Shankar with SRK ?
Director Shankar is out of tension after the success of Sivaji and normally he will take atleast 6 months time to start his next movie. Now the buzz is that, Shankar is going to start his Science fiction movie Robo in Jan 2008, Wait a second.. it is not in Tamil, but in Hindi with Sharukh Khan in lead, Red Chilies the production house of SRK is going to be the producer. The film will have tamil and telugu version. Both Shankar and SRK not confirmed the news yet. If it happens, it will be a great extravaganza to whole India.

Marmayogi = Maruthanayagam?

With the commencement of Marmayogi, it's time for controversies to

take centre stage. The recent buzz that has been doing rounds in

Kollywood is that Kamal Haasan is trying to revive his dream project

Maruthanayagam and pass it off as Marmayogi. A few years ago, the

ambitious actor started Maruthanayagam amidst much fanfare. It may

be recounted that this
Kamal
film, which was also directed by Kamal, was shelved when a section

of the society raised a hue and cry over depicting their community

in dark light. But Kamal's new appearance for Marmayogi, which is

similar to one he sported during the Maruthanayagam days, has raised

doubts that he has plans to serve the old wine in a new bottle.

However, Marmayogi is based in the 7th century while Maruthanayagam

was a warrior who lived in the 18th century.

South Indian superstar to act with Jackie Chan

Mohanlal's next venture in the pipeline, Nair Sen, could have Jackie Chan in a significant role. This film is based on the life of a famous freedom fighter Ayyam Pillai Madhavan Nair. It is said that Jackie Chan was sent a script translated in English and he has given a positive reply. However, discussions regarding other issues are still in a

fluid state. Nair Sen is tipped to commence in September and the first leg of shooting will take place in Mongolia. Other foreign locations include Japan and Hong Kong. According to the producer Albert, the film will be made in four languages – Malayalam, English, Japanese and Chinese.

Starring Rajinikanth, Nayanthara and Meena, with a host of regional actors, this bilingual (in Tamil and Telugu) blockbuster is adapted from the Malayalam movie Kadha Parayumbol. In his own inimitable style, Rajini essays the guest role Mammootty made famous in the recent Malayalam hit. And Rajini being Rajini, has more than a cameo role here.

The audio rights were bagged by Big Music for a never-heard-

of-before 2.25 crores. This seems to have raised a lot of expectations among listeners. The soundtrack was released in a glittering function on 30th June.

A live performance of the songs is also being planned by Big Music. Two numbers from the album sing Rajini’s praise unreservedly, and also list his movies. Another touchingly commemorates the 75th anniversary of Tamil Cinema itself, in Vaali’s lyrics! G.V.Prakash, the composer, shows good promise.

A majestic instrumental opening: Speaks of the way cinema gives form and shape to long forgotten names and figures ,like Karnan, Kattabomman etc; (why, even God, for that matter) and enriches our imagination. Vaali fondly recalls the employment generated for scores of people by way of group dancing and extras. And the kind of co operation that goes into bringing out a movie. The song also happily revels in the fame achieved by the Superstar, cutting across all layers of society! ‘Super staarum sooriyanum dhaan ulagam suttri’ is an impish line, truly! Seems to be based on Natabhairavi scale with the phrase’ paa saa nee dha’ employed attractively. Violins are very pleasingly used. A fitting tribute to the industry in Shankar Mahadevan’s passionate voice. Strong rhythms seem to cut into the smooth flow of the lyric.
